Located in Kingsley Town Center in Fort Mill, New South Family Medicine is a Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice that safeguards what matters most: the patient-doctor relationship.
DPC is a membership-based model that emphasizes longer, more personal visits with your doctor, and access directly via cell phone, text and Skype. For one low monthly fee, we are able to provide patients with longer, relaxed visits, significantly lower cost medications/labs and a variety of ways to connect with your physician, Dr. Jessica Kaiser Mendelsohn.
In her previous practice, Dr. Mendelsohn had a patient panel of over 3,000 patients! Through the DPC model, she will limit her panel to no more than 600 patients. This means she will have 5 times longer to spend with YOU to focus on what is important for you to stay healthy. There are no co-pays and all fees are transparent. We pass all of our wholesale savings on to you. To learn more about the DPC model of care, click here.
Meet Dr. Jessica Kaiser Mendelsohn
Dr. Mendelsohn is delighted to bring direct primary care to the Fort Mill, SC, community! Through this straightforward membership model, she can respond promptly to patient needs, give her undivided attention, and offer advice and care without the time-consuming, often unnecessary paperwork associated with the third party payment systems.
Dr. Mendelsohn grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She completed her undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) and attended Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, where she earned her M.D.
Dr. Mendelsohn moved to Charlotte, NC to complete her residency in Family Medicine. Upon residency completion, she became Board Certified in Family Medicine and practiced full time in Charlotte until 2014.
While practicing in Charlotte, Dr. Mendelsohn was very involved in physician leadership, both as medical director of her practice and throughout the hospital system, serving on various committees. She graduated from the McColl School of Business Physician Leadership Institute in 2012 with 30 of her physician colleagues. Also in 2012, she was voted by her peers as one of Charlotte’s “Top Doctors” in the May edition of Charlotte Magazine.
After the birth of her first son, Dr. Mendelsohn decided to pursue hospice work with Hospice and Community Care in Rock Hill, SC while continuing to assist family medicine practices throughout the Charlotte area. Her hospice experience led her to become medical director of an advance care planning initiative, helping doctors and the communities they serve to better understand the importance of discussing future healthcare wishes and goals of care.
Dr. Mendelsohn had her second son in 2017. A year later, she started recognizing the need for improved primary care in her own community and decided to re-enter the practice of family medicine in a new, independent way.
Dr. Mendelsohn is thrilled to bring direct primary care to Fort Mill. She hopes to recapture the essence of the doctor-patient relationship, which feels like it has deteriorated over the last decade. By emphasizing time with patients and treating the WHOLE PERSON, Dr. Mendelsohn feels that New South Family Medicine will help start a wave of change needed to restore the art of medicine.
In addition to opening her primary care practice, she will continue to work with hospice, which has a special place in her heart.
Dr. Mendelsohn loves running, yoga, barre, and staying active with her family. You’ll definitely catch her around town indulging in a good glass of wine or ice cream though!
Her first loves are her husband, Dave, also a primary care physician, and her two amazing, beautiful sons, Charlie and Henry.

In Our Patients’ Words
“Dr. Jessica Kaiser Mendelsohn was my Primary Care Physician for many years. My health was complicated through those years and I will always be grateful to her for her care given to me. Dr. Kaiser (as she was then) was compassionate, caring, knowledgeable and professional. She KNEW ME....She LISTENED TO ME....She TOOK TIME TO HEAR ME....and TOGETHER I was given extraordinary care!! I will always be grateful for that care that brought to my life the ultimate care of a physician....care that enhanced my mind, body, and spirit!!”-- Nancy H., Fort Mill, SC
“I simply cannot say enough about the care my family and I received as Dr. Kaiser’s patients. I transferred to her practice at a time in my life when I needed not only physical care, but emotional and mental as well. She always encouraged me to be an active participant in my quest for overall well-being. Dr. Kaiser also served as my teenage daughters’ physician. Both girls absolutely adored Dr. Kaiser’s easy-going personality, approachability, and candor. Our family recommends her without hesitation!”-- Lori C., Charlotte, NC
“Dr. Kaiser (Mendelsohn) is the best doctor I have ever had. When she left her practice in Pineville I was devastated. She always made time for me, always listened carefully and never rushed me out of the office. She was so kind when my Mother passed away – I’ll never forget her huge hug. It was like visiting an old friend rather than the just an allotted 10-minute office visit. I will join her new practice as soon as she opens it and I will be delighted to be back with her.”-- Jane G., Fort Mill, SC
“I had just about given up on doctors and myself for that matter, until I met Dr. Mendelsohn. I was tired of being judged by my cover and not heard for my story. Not only did Dr. Mendelsohn not judge me, she listened to me. She looked me in my eye and heard what I had to say. Most importantly, she believed in me. She always made me feel like we were working as a team and her belief in me morphed into me remembering how to believe in myself. I remember the day she told me she was leaving the practice, I was sad...but when I learned she was moving on to Hospice, I realized it was ok. The Hospice patients and their families needed her more than I did – her care and compassion were something that I knew in my core they could not be receiving from any other provider and they were going to be blessed with an intelligent doctor who would also care about them as people and the life events that lie ahead. If you are choosing Dr. Mendelsohn, without a doubt, you are choosing to put your health in the hands of one of the best!”-- Lynn D., Fort Mill, SC
